Had a performance to watch at night, so we bummed around at suntec first. Walked into Love & Co to take a look at rings, and had the first bath for the ring! At last! =D

the mobius strip caught my eye =D (yeah, i'm after all a math geek) JL wasn't very impressed by the material cos white gold and platinum will still be scratched by other metals, but i'm happy with the platinum mobius strip (presently KIV)

So he went back home and started searching, and now he's got his mind set on Tungsten Carbide ring! LOL ... being the geek he is too, he's so excited about it, cos it's one of the hardest substances in the world ... it's hard enough to blunt cutting materials, and he can go around scratching almost every thing except for diamonds

and why is it so hard? cos Tungsten Carbide, chemical formula: WC, is a three-dimensional tetrahedral covalent bond structure .. ROFLMAO

After photoshoot, met JL's parents for lunch at Bugis, and we went down to fit my gowns again. (Will add the photos when i get the card read.)

eventful day yest, met a parent at 8am, 1st photoshoot with dennis was at 10 am

so spent the time in sch to do my make up ... i loooove the eyeliner gel. Bought it from The Make Up Shop (at Central), very easy to apply, and doesn't take time to dry up like the liquid one, and lasted for 14 hours (with all the sweat).

we started photoshoot at UCC:

Many thanks to Dennis who made time for us =) going to meet up 2 weeks from now, and that'll be in studio, so we're going to try more pas de deux photos, and more of my extensions! Which means I have two weeks to stretch and strengthen my core muscles!

Proposal - 18 May 2008

of course all these planning for wedding and engagement would not have taken place had he not proposed! =D

over the past few years that we've been together, i've been "educating" him on a good wedding proposal .. and he arranged one that i couldn't say no to =) not that i'll say no, but it was nicely planned ... although he told me the planning started the day before that

on 17th May:
we had dance rehearsals at NUS, during lunch he told me he needed to go to office (Hope). Just for the record, he was actually jobless when he proposed. =/

Turned out that when he reached his new office, he started making the proposal ring =)

He called Wan Ling to inform her of the proposal, invited her down ... he obtained Ling's number fr a mutual friend .. but because he has no mutual friends with Rena, he left her out ... and she's going to be sore about this for many years to come .. oops

And he asked for old photos from me, I can't remember what reason he gave =(

On 18th May:
Peter's class in the morning, then Depot Rd's Botak Jones for lunch .. he said he needed to go office to get sth .. when we reached, he asked me to open the gate of the building, then led me upstairs to take a look at the office ..

I noticed that there was a projector that was on, screen projected onto the wall (he later asked me why i knew even though the screen was black .. i told him i see such projections everyday lol). He led me to his table, then started the slide presentation of our old photos ... with Rainbow Connection in the background .. at the end of it, he popped the question!

As I turned around, there was a robot hidden in a box which came out carrying the ring! He took the ring and went down on one knee, and asked me if i'll marry him again! I said yes and started bouncing about .. until he told me there were 2 video cams (2 diff angles) .. and there were actually other people around .. Peter, Michael and Wan Ling!

Turn out that the robot was controlled by Peter, who had to peep through the glass panel of the door ..

And I was officially taken!

engagement rings

realised i haven't shown off our rings yet =D

we bought them at Love & Co., the outlet at Raffles City -- check out their website

initially we thought it looked very atas, ala Tiffany's ... but we thought what the hell, just go ahead and take a look =) their service was excellent, the rings on display also were very nice!

they're a subsidiary of Soo Kee -- we'd actually spent the morning of the same day at Soo Kee looking at Brilliant Rose, but thought it was too expensive, and we shouldn't spend that amount of money buying the brand

anyway, Love & Co. sells only Ideal diamonds ... 3 excellents ... =) so in that sense you're guaranteed a good diamond, if not excellent

i selected the setting, which has the baby diamonds by the side ... and he chose THE diamond
we decided on best colour, instead of a big one ... and the colour's really nice! and it really sparkles =D

his is a rose gold and white gold combination ... more expensive than my setting! lol

MIL's dress

MIL came to the shop which i did my gowns ... Zion Creation ... and got herself one dinner dress too =)

this shop was highly recommended by Catherine ... so far her service's been ok, nothing good or bad stood out yet

Lorraine did a re-measurement for me, and *gasp* i actually gained 1 inch on my waist ... and i thought i'd lost a lot of weight when i was very sick a few weeks back

guess i really did put on a lot prior to bronchitis .. eeks

四点金

had lunch with JL's family today, at tampines mall Crystal Jade -- to celebrate our engagement! =)

after lunch, PIL and JL's aunt brought me to Poh Heng to buy my 四点金

stressful man ... it's sweet of them to want to get me thick and heavy gold stuff, but quite embarrassed about it =P

the initial necklace that my MIL asked me to try out, JL thought it looked like some chain that a loanshark would wear. lmao. cos it was thick and very long ...

so in the end, we selected a substantial necklace, a 龙凤 heart-shaped pendant, a bracelet which has the same design as the necklace, and a bangle (which is a plain one with no design at all - i like!) -- turned out that the workmanship for the bangle is even higher than the pendant, explanation given is a lot of work was put into the polishing of the bangle

these 4 items will be brought over during 纳采, and i'll be wearing them on the day of wedding! wondering whether i'll wear them regularly in the future ... hmmm

anyway, at Poh Heng, saw one diamond solitaire -- 1.01 carat, D-IF (first time i see one diamond that's IF) ... wow ... didn't ask the price, i'm guessing $20k?

JL called that diamond the big brother of the one i'm wearing now ... but we both concluded ours is a small but power-packed diamond ... it really sparkles =D more so than every one at poh heng just now, except for that D-IF one ...

we're "officially" engaged today! =)

had a short and simple ceremony at home, where JL's family brought things over, and we prayed and exchanged rings

been some time between his proposal (18 May 08) and today, and he's now recognised as my fiance!

him putting on the ring for me on my right hand ...

and me putting on his right hand ... but it's supposed to be the left hand ... oops

tadah! done! =) we're officially mr and mrs ng to be!

The 4 items they'd brought over:

1. Oranges (20 of them)
2. 4 types of sweet biscuits (pictures and details below)
3. Ang Pao (this is not returned, unlike 聘金)
4. My ring (his was with me the past few months, but it was alright if he had held on to both rings)

Half of all these items except for the ang pao, were supposed to be "returned". For example, 10 of the 20 oranges were returned to them, likewise the biscuits. Red dates were exchanged with the ang pao.

The 4 types of biscuits gave quite a lot of problem. Seems to me the company which produces the biscuits, Chop Mui Lee, and my FIL had some communication breakdown, and my mum got involved cos my FIL wasn't sure if he had ordered the correct biscuits.

In the end, ordered 10 boxes of each type, cos it was a "Special Order".

Beng 3 Tng2 (明糖) - it's soft

Anyway, they're supposed to be Teochew and Hokkien biscuits. Kids used to eat them. And they're very nice and sweet! =D
